History of Blackjack
Blackjack first evolved in the 1700s in France. The game reached the shores of the United States after the French revolution and in no time it became quite popular in the country. In the early 1900's gambling was prohibited in the country and so blackjack went underground. Its popularity surged even more once gambling was legalized by Las Vegas in 1931.
The blackjack tips and strategies were formulated during 1960 to 1990, because it was the most popular casino game of those times. Professor Edward Thorp's book on blackjack tips 'Beat the Dealer' was published in 1962. He outlined a card counting strategy in the book which threatened the financial viability of the casinos. Later on, from the beginning of the 1990's, televised blackjack tournaments caught the attention of blackjack players all over the world. Till today, blackjack remains to be a gambler's favorite casino card game.
